  IWCR hosts a weekly crafting meetup where our members come together to work on their latest knitting/crocheting/needlepoint projects and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea.  This is also an opportunity to explore new cafes around Riga too! There is no RSVP and no requirement to attend regularly.  Just come when you can and enjoy a morning together.

  IWCR hosts a weekly Latvian class where current members take a lesson from a dedicated Latvian teacher.  Each event includes time to practice conversing in the Latvian language.  Weekly vocabulary lists and lesson material is provided. 

  IWCR Members are encouraged to join the Latvian Language Club Subchat in the IWCR Whatsapp Community for the latest in time changes, cancellations, questions, etc.  This is also the method for notifying the hostess of your attendance or cancellation.

• Tavi Draugi Volunteer Shift - Camo/Rubble Nets

  IWCR teams up with Tavi Draugi to support their camo net weaving program.  IWCR volunteers learn to weave nets on large looms.  The camouflage nets are made based on the requests of Ukrainian military units to hide equipment, ammunition, vehicles, and humanitarian goods.  Tavi Draugi will have additional volunteer tasks to include making candles, packing candles, cutting ribbon, removing the knots from ribbon, stuffing styrofoam into nylons, etc.
  
  *Please note that post-fire, IWCR Members have been working mainly on rubble nets inside a tent though other tasks may be expected of volunteers.
  
  Notes:
  -Bring a bagged lunch as pizza will not be provided
  -Maximum 12 attendees (Ages 11+)
  -Wear comfortable and warm clothing (in the cooler months), wear clothing you do not mind getting dirty, dress in layers, and wear thick and strong shoes
  -Bring a donation for inside the camo nets (3-in-1 coffee, chocolate bars, energy bars, hand/foot warmers, packs of wet wipes, nuts/dried fruit)

  IWCR 2026 FALL CHARITY DRIVE

  IWCR is excited to announce its Fall 2026 Charity Drive on Wednesday, September 16th 1000 - 1300 at the Salvation Army (Pestīšanas Armija Latvijā).  Any and all members of the greater community are invited to bring their donations to our drop-off area inside the back of the Salvation Army building.  The IWCR will then sort the donated items based on our charity needs.  Any and all items are welcome: gently-used clothing and shoes, backpacks, kitchen supplies, school supplies, household appliances, toys, kid's bikes, craft material, towels/sheets, and more!  If you have a large item to donate, please contact charity@iwcr.lv before dropping it off as we have no way to move large items.  If you have no gently-used items to donate, consider donating diapers, wipes, toiletries, or school supplies.  Stay and enjoy a coffee and cookies following your donation drop-off. 
  
  The Salvation Army (Pestīšanas armija) is located at Bruņinieku iela 10A and it is possible to pull your vehicle inside the gate to drop-off items.  You are also welcome to enter through the gate by foot and come in the furthest back door into the charity donation area.  Please arrive by 1300 to drop-off your donations.
  
  If you are unable to drop-off items 1000 - 1300 on September 16th, please email charity@iwcr.lv to arrange for other options.

• Introduction to Disc Golf

  Try out the growing sport of disc golf at UFOGOLF in Mēzparks. 

  Start with a short introduction to disc golf and basic training. Play a short 1 hour round of disc golf in a group of 3-5 people. Guidance from the UFOGOLF team will be available throughout the activity. All necessary discs will be provided.

  Cost: €15 per person (payable on-site to UFOGOLF)

  There is no special age or experience requirement. This introduction is suitable for beginners. Family and friends of IWCR members are welcome.

  Notes:
  -Please be firm in your commitment to respect our hosts and fellow players..
  -Wear clothing suitable for open forest play and weather (pants/socks/sports footwear).

  -Bring/apply bug spray, water, snack.

  -Mēzaparks is accessbile by public transportation. Parking available. Be prepared to walk to UFOGOLF in central Mēzaparks.

  Back by popular demand! Join Mary-Anne to create decorative sweater pumpkins. Upcycle textured sweaters into pretty home decor. 

  If you participated previously, maybe you'd like to add more gourds to your crop. Or perhaps you would prefer to add a cozy candle to your fall decor.

  Bring your own sweater(s) and perhaps a candle holder to work with,. Basic supplies will be provided.
