The IWCR (in Latvian, Rīgas Starptautiskais Sieviešu Klubs) was founded to unite women of many nationalities living in Riga, foster genuine friendships, help newcomers feel at home, explore Latvian culture, and support local charities.
The idea began in 1992 when expatriate women in Riga organised social activities. By 2005 the IWCR was formally registered as a non-government organisation. Today, we continue as a fully volunteer-run organisation with a focus on social connection and philanthropy.
Social & Cultural: Regular social gatherings, interest groups (craft clubs, book clubs, language groups, wellness classes, networking, moms group), tours and workshops, and “Meet & Greet” events for potential members. Some activities may occur on evenings and weekends. Some may include partners/spouses, friends and family.
Charity & Community: We support families, young mothers, the elderly and other people in need across Latvia through fundraising events, drives and material donations, and volunteer opportunities.
Membership & Inclusion: We welcome women of all nationalities, with special attention to engaging with the local Latvian community.
Friendship. Diversity. Service. Cultural exploration.
We believe that by coming together – across nationalities – we gain richer experiences, deeper friendships and make a greater impact in our local community.
Becoming part of IWCR means access to a warm, international network; fun and meaningful activities; opportunities to learn more about Latvia; and the chance to contribute to charity in a substantial way.
