Join IWCR for a guided tour of the National Library of Latvia, a premier cultural institution known as the "Castle of Light". The National Library was designed by Gunnar Birkerts and opened in 2014. Its iconic, angular design represents Latvian folklore's Glass Mountain. The library holds over 4.5 million items (volumes, manuscripts, periodicals, and special collections), specializing in humanities and social sciences. Come and take a good look - plus the view from the top is amazing! Notes:-Member Cost: 4€ -Non-Member Cost: 6€ -Children Cost (Age 7 and under): FREE -Bring 1€ (refundable) to rent a locker for your bag and coat because you cannot take personal items on the tour -Use public transportation or allow for sufficient time to park and arrive for the tour -Children are welcome to attend but must be able to spend an hour touring the library and to follow library expectations.
