On Saturday, April 22, 2017 the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Riga will host a memorial event to honor Vera Čáslavská, a multiple Olympic champion in gymnastics, fighter against the Warsaw Pact invasion to Czechoslovakia in August 1968, signatory of “Two Thousand Words”, former President of the Olympic Committee of the Czech Republic, employee of the presidential office of Václav Havel and close collaborator and adviser to President Václav Havel.
On behalf of Ambassador Miroslav Kosk we are sending you the enclosed invitation to attend the screening of the film Vera 68 by Olga Sommerová in cinema K Suns with follow-up friendly discussion and meeting with Olga Sommerová with a glass of wine and/or Czech beer Budvar in the premises of the Embassy of the Czech Republic.
Program:
Saturday, April 22, 2017
15:00 – screening of the film Vera 68, K-Suns, Elizabetes 83/85; the film will be screened in English with English subtitles and simultaneous interpretation into Latvian, movie will last for 90 minutes.
17:30 – glass of wine and a pint of beer (Budvar) – friendly discussion and meeting with Mrs. Olga Sommerová and guests of the Embassy of the Czech Republic – Elizabetes 29a, Riga. Conversation will be held in Latvian and Czech languages, it is also possible in English and Russian.
