Together, we take the opportunity to learn about Latvian culture, and, through our charity work, to give something back to the local community. By becoming our member you will have the chance to meet new people, take part in exciting, local activities, join groups with similar interests as your own and to support local charities which are very grateful.
The working language of the Club is English, however with approximately 40 countries represented, the languages likely vary at any given gathering.

The idea of the club started in 1992, when some expatriate women decided to start organising activities for the international women living in Riga. In April 1995, six dedicated woman decided to further develop the idea and founded the unregistered REIGAL – The Riga Expatriate Interest Groups and Luncheons.
Ten years later, in 2005, the International Women’s Club of Riga (IWCR) was born as an official NGO (Non Government Organisation) registered in Latvia.
Our charity work is very close to our hearts. Throughout the year we support different charity associations around Riga. The IWCR members seek to raise funds to provide support and financial assistance for charities. Our primary focus is on helping families, young mothers, the elderly and the abused - both in Riga and the Latvian countryside.
Our members share in many social activities and gatherings every month. Coffee mornings, lunches, tours, book clubs and interest groups of all kinds. As a member you are welcome to any and all of these events. Every month there is also a "Meet & Greet" event that is open to guests and people who are interested in joining the club.
The International Woman’s Club of Riga is called “RĪGAS STARPTAUTISKAIS SIEVIEŠU KLUBS” in Latvian. The abbreviation is “IWCR” and on our website, publications and advertisements – we refer often to this abbreviation.
IWCR “is an independent, voluntary public organization uniting, on the basis of common interest, individuals with the purpose of: promoting friendship and welcome; providing assistance and support for newcomers and expatriates to Latvia; furthering cultural activities among women of all nationalities, stressing opportunities for their insight into Latvian social and cultural life; and giving support to local charities.
These objectives and tasks are of no profit gaining purpose or character. Performance of these shall be charitable and educational, and will be realized through activities organized and supported by the Association.”
