we would like to offer you a volunteer opportunity.
Tuesday, October 11, 10:00 to 14:00, we will be taking children from Ilguciems Women’s Prison to Spice playground, lunch and shopping for winter shoes. We would appreciate any help from your side – to help with children at the playground, to bring them there and back by car. Please, let us know if you would like to join by writing back to this email. If you would like to know more, you can also talk to any member of the Charity Committee: Vera Boissin, Eva Seseman, Julia Piesnia and Elina Apine. All your help is very appreciated!
A little more information:
Several children up to age four live in the Ilguciems Women’s prison with their mothers. They have a very limited opportunity to go out and experience somewhat normal life, so common for the rest of us. Last few years, IWCR ladies have been helping by bringing the children for trips, giving them small gifts, buying winter shoes.. Now, we try to do these trips more often, every few weeks. The children already got used to this nice time spent together and they look forward to the next time. As the children are quite sensitive to change, it would be nice to maintain a regular group of ladies going to them; so if you would like to try and then maybe join on a more regular basis, please let me know.
