Please keep safe and healthy. We will come back with a new date soon
Dear members, dear friends of IWCR,
We are very pleased to invite you to a new culinary social event – we will discover the best-loved Hungarian recipes. This event is part of our very special series of cultural event in light of this year’s “International Christmas Journey” – our fundraiser this year to raise funds for charities in Latvia.
We invite local and international friends and families to be a tourist across the nations – while staying in Latvia. Traveling is one of the best ways to enjoy the arts and the vibrant gradient of cultures from around the world.
While the discovery of places around the world seems out of range at the moment, we invite you to an “International Christmas Journey” from November 2020 until January 2021. Of course, nothing compares to experiencing the world in person. But we want to invite you to take a peek and learn about cultures and countries.
Hungarian Cooking & Lunch Oct 26th
Our lovely member Annamária invites the ladies of IWCR to a cooking session followed by a 3-course Hungarian lunch.
- WHEN: Monday, October 26th
- TIME: 11.00-14.30
- Venue: Rīga, details will be shared upon registration.
- Price per Person: Eur 19,00 *
- Including 3-course-menu, water, wine, ingredients, cooking instructions.
Annamária will teach us how to prepare Hungarian “gulyas”. Her heirloom recipe was already made by her grandmother for Annamaria’s mother when she was a child, and her mom made it for her to enjoy. The dish makes heavy use of paprika, and is Hungarian cuisine’s quintessential spice.
One other amazing dish will be the traditional Hungarian Dobos Torte with several layers of pastry and chocolate buttercream and a delicious caramel topping. It was invented by a Hungarian confectioner Jozsef C. Dobos in 1884, who kept his recipe secret for over 20 years.
Annamária unveiled already, it is not the quickest one to make, but so worth it!

International Christmas Journey 2020

We believe that “adventure” is anything that takes you beyond your comfort zone. That’s where you’ll find the most wondrous awe and discovery. Therefore, we will take our visitors and friends of the Christmas Bazaar to a journey of various cross-cultural experiences from November 2020 until January 2021. Due to the current situation we will not hold our traditional and popular International Christmas Bazaar in presence.
But the 40 nationalities – usually represented at the bazaar – will not rest to raise funds, and offer cross-cultural goods and experiences through the “International Christmas Journey”. Together, we raise funds for local charities in Latvia – supported by foreign ambassadors with their families, and a strong international community.
Join one of our popular cultural events – we will offer throughout the time a series of cultural events for a limited number of attendees at a fee, like traditional cooking classes, yoga sessions, exceptional tour through Agenskalns, or bake sales. Our first event will be an Hungarian Cooking experience on Oct 26th.
All proceeds raised at the events will go directly into total funds for 2021 charity projects. As usual we will distribute these funds to the charity organisations we support in Latvia. Read more here.
