The Embassy of Slovakia invites you to watch a Slovak film maker Martin Smatana’s latest movie The Kite that was premiered at Berlinale 2019, made it to the semifinals of Student Oscar Academy Awards and became part of Film Collection of MoMA (Museum of Modern Art in New York).
So far the film was screened at more than 150 festivals and won 32 international awards, including Best Children Film at the Annecy festival.
Sometimes you can capture the hearts and minds of people with a single kite. A little boy visits his old grandfather in the countryside and they fly a kite together. They are both made out of layers, an age symbolism. The boy has many of these layers. He is perspective, because he has all his life ahead of him. But grandfather, on the other hand, has already lost most of his layers and he has only few left…
