Upcoming charity activities – June 2017

June 2, 2017By

Dear Ladies,

I hope you are all doing fine. Summer holiday is fast approaching, but if you still have some space in your pre-holiday calendars, please look at some charity activities planned for June:
June 1 – as announced, trip with children from Ilguciems Women’s Prison.
We meet 10:00, in front of the prison, Tvaikonu iela 3, Riga, or 10:30 at the location. We will most probably go to Spice playground, given the weather forecast, but better to let me know if you join, so that we can keep you informed. Program might change. Thanks to all volunteers that signed up already! Nice group!
June 7 – after Meet and Greet, we would like to make a quick drive to Bolderaja Daycare Centre (Hope for Children). During our Meet and Greet, we would like to collect some beach toys, beach towels, or anything you would like to give as a present (new or almost new) to children from this centre, for the summer holiday. Ages are 4- 18, boys and girls. We will drive collected things right after Meet and Greet to Bolderaja, and you are welcome to join! We will be back in Riga around 15:00.
June 8 trip to the Riga ZOO with ladies and gentlemen from Samaritans elderly home. This very nice activity is very popular amongst them and have been asked for, so we have offered to arrange a transport and mainly keep them some company! Anyone is welcome to join, some basic Latvian language skills would be great! We will leave 10:30 from Garozes iela 15, Riga. We will be back by 15:00.
June 14 – trip to SOS Village in Valmiera and to Grief Camp. SOS Villages are an alternative to foster care and orphanages. For more information please look at: http://www.sos-childrensvillages.org/where-we-help/europe/latvia
Right after visiting the village, we will go to Grief Camp, that is organised by SOS Villages and co-financed by IWCR. It is a camp for children that suffered a loss of a parent or a close person. The camp gives them a chance to get together with other children with similar experience. They get help and also have some fun, so needed. This trip is just an excursion, we won’t have any activity with the children, as they have quite a full schedule. Still, it is a nice opportunity to see one of our charities.
We will leave Riga at 9:00 and be back quite late, around 18:00, by cars.
Please, let me know by replying to this email, if you are interested in any of these activities.
I will send reminders, too. 🙂
Have a lovely afternoon!
