Charity Fundraising Activities

Our biggest fundraiser of the year is the International Christmas Bazaar, which is being held on Sunday, 28 November between 11am-5pm at the Radisson Blu Hotel Latvija on Elizabete Iela. Highlights of this year's Christmas Bazaar will include our first 'live' auction, table top gifts and produce presented by many of the International Embassies represented in Riga; beautiful artisan crafts, handicrafts, cuisine from around the world and a medley of carols performed by students from The International School. The IWCR fundraising committee is working hard to organise fun events for members that also raise money for the charities we support. Here are just a few examples of recent events:- The May ‘Potluck lunch’ kindly hosted by Maija Gobina was once again a success and the proceeds raised were donated to the Marta Centre. Sponsored runners and walkers participating in Riga's mini- and half-marathons raising valuable funds for the Children of Hope charity. It is important that as IWCR members we support many charities in any way that we can whether big or small so if you would like to join the Fundraising Committee or have any ideas on future events please do not hesitate to contact Mariette at board.iwcr@gmail.com more » Handicrafts items for the International Bazaar The Handicraft Group is collecting donated craft materials so they don’t have to buy fabric and other items. They are looking specificall for: small glasses (at least 2 of the same kind) to make candle holders, fabric (any type, but at least 25cmx25cm), zippers (any colour, size), decorated paper napkins (flowers, fully colored and even one would help), beads, velvet, cotton rope, ribbons and string.
