Wool Felting Workshop – create your own designs!

Wool felting is one of the oldest textile activities, developed many centuries ago in Asia.  Traditionally felt has been used for creating various textiles including, wall hangings, cushions and clothing such as footwear, hats, and cloaks.  Today the technique of wool felting has regained both its popularity and topicality and is being used both for functional and decorative applications.

Our afternoon workshop, under the guidance of textile artist Kristine Rutka, offers you the chance to try one of the easiest methods of felting.  You will be able to create an individual piece of design.

Bicycle Tour - Jurmala
Ivette gives details of the cycle route around Jurmala

The first-ever IWCR Bike Ride took place in Jurmala in August, on a beautiful sunny day perfect for cycling.

Our Tours & Social Organiser, Ivette Hogervorst had arranged a great two-wheeled itinerary for the group, which featured visits to Jurmala City Museum (fasinating) and the Memorial Cottage of Rainis and Aspazija, the renowned Latvian poets.

After Ivette pointed out many other notable architectural gems (such as the Fairytale House) and lunch at a pavement cafe in Dubulti, the group had an invigorating ride back to Majori along the beach.  Bicyles can be rented inexpensively by the hour, outside Majori Tourist Information Office. If you get the chance to do another Bike Ride hosted by Ivette, jump at the chance, it was a really fun day and she is a great 'unofficial' tour guide!
